ATEM strenghtens its value chain with the acquisition of VN Composites

Solliès-Pont (83) - July 6, 2020 - ATEM, specialist in the design and manufacturing of coax cable assemblies and radiofrequence (RF) & microwave sub-systems, announces the acquisition of VN Composites, designer and manufacturer of technical composite parts. This operation comes at a pivotal moment in the evolution of the two companies located in Solliès-Pont, near Toulon (83).

ATEM celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2020 and is pursuing its dynamic diversification strategy which began in 2015. The SME has developed new services and products stemming from its core competence: mastering RF & microwave field. It provides, for example, connection kits for the internet onboard for commercial aviation. The purchase of VN Composites through the Covid-19 crisis is significant, which demonstrates the ATEM’s confidence in its future and its desire to be the main player in its growth. As for VN Composites, after 25 years of existence, it rises to the challenge of the business transfer, with the retirement of its founding director Jean-Paul Tronquoy. At the same time, it is investing to become an actor that counts in the promising biobased composite materials sector.

“It was important to me to pass on the rigor, the know-how and the passion to those who will succeed me. It is comforting for me to hand over the baton to Arnaud Sackda. Even if almost a generation separates us, he is a person with whom I share affinities and above all a common vision of the industry "explains Jean-Paul Tronquoy. "He also has to his credit having already successfully experienced a business transfer. He's the right driver, "said the motorsport enthusiast.

"By purchasing VN Composites, ATEM demonstrates its commitment to preserving the industry. We are attached to this "made in France" know-how which enables us to respond to the most advanced technical challenges. It is essential to preserve them ” underlines Arnaud Sackda.

Beyond the commitment of the two business leaders, the merging between ATEM and VN Composites responds to an obvious economic synergy, given their many similarities. ATEM and VN Composites share a development model focused on high added value services. Which developed by the design office and implemented by a manufacturing workshop. Both companies have a strong innovation culture and common customer references in the aeronautics, space and defense industries. Certified EN 9100, the two SMEs, experienced in engineering and the production of prototypes and small series, are the benchmarks in their respective sectors. They have accumulated 55 years of service in the industry.

The merger of the two entities also makes sense in regards to the current expectations of their customers. Whether coaxial cable assemblies, RF & microwave subsystems or composite technical parts, customers are always looking for more integrated solutions, more respectful of the environment, lighter, with reduced dimensions, while continuing to respect the very strong operational constraints inherent in these markets. “With this acquisition, we are offering our customers a more extensive and integrated offer without compromising our expertise. We are happy and proud to give them access to new processes, products and services and to have the capacity to study their most complex requests. We will be keen to mobilize all of our ingenuity to offer them solutions adapted to their needs, ” concludes Arnaud Sackda.
